Migrants can be exploited no matter their visa, but the power dynamic between migrants whose whole ability to stay in the country depends on their employer plays a huge role in exploitation. This has been well documented and it’s pretty out of touch to claim otherwise.

Pretty shocking INZ officials have claimed that people in employer bound visas aren’t more at risk of exploitation. This directly contradicts the experience of migrant workers, researchers, advocates and unions. We need to decouple work visas from single employers!
