Indian 155mm artillery shells cost $300 to $400 per unit, European equivalents run close to $3,000
When critics question Indian defense quality, they miss that 13 Eastern European NATO members already placed orders worth $872 million in under 2 years. Europe burned through ammunition stockpiles supplying Ukraine and found domestic factories cannot scale at those prices.
Cost gap is not marginal, it is 8x :)
Countries paying 8x more for same caliber shells while facing active security threats will keep switching suppliers regardless of old alliances.
Before 2022, India ranked 28th among arms suppliers to Eastern Europe. By 2026, India moved to 2nd position. When people say India has no defense brand in Europe, they cite rankings that became irrelevant within 4 years.
Exports to European buyers rose 1,600% from prewar levels of $49.2 million annually. Countries that never imported Indian defense equipment now place regular orders for ammunition and spare parts.
Traditional Western exporters spent decades building those procurement lanes. India bypassed all of it with lower prices and faster delivery.
Private companies now account for 45% of Indian defense exports. When people say Indian manufacturing is government controlled, they miss that private sector doubled its defense production share in under 5 years.
India exported $4.1 billion in defense goods last fiscal year. Nifty India Defence index gained 21.3% this year while Nifty 50 fell 8%. Markets do not give that kind of divergence to sectors running on hype.
Capital markets now price Indian defense manufacturers separately from broader market trends, treating them as standalone investment category.
🇮🇳 A quiet fact that should make every Indian sit up:
As drone swarms overwhelm the world's most expensive air defences, India is building the weapon that fights back at the speed of light — literally.
India is now developing laser weapons (directed-energy weapons) to burn cheap drones & cruise missiles out of the sky for pennies a shot.
The club that has fielded or tested this:
🇺🇸 United States
🇷🇺 Russia
🇨🇳 China
🇮🇱 Israel
🇬🇧 United Kingdom
🇮🇳 India
That's it. Not Japan. Not Germany. Not France at this scale.
The lesson India drew from Operation Sindoor was brutal & simple: you cannot stop a ₹30,000 drone with a ₹30-lakh missile. The math loses every time.
So India is changing the math. A laser costs a few dollars a shot & never runs out of ammunition as long as it has power.
The nation that masters this doesn't just defend its skies. It makes attacking them pointless.
India is choosing to be that nation. 🇮🇳

Durga Puja without Dharma is what gave us weakness of our hearts & gave birth to Bangladesh.
The attempt to separate Bengal's culture from its Sanatan roots is precisely where our intellectual & spiritual decline began.
Durga Puja minus Dharma did not make Bengal progressive. The tragic history of Bengal's Partition and the persecution of Hindus in what became East Pakistan and later Bangladesh should remind us why our civilisational identity matters.
For decades, Communist ideology attempted to reduce our sacred traditions to cultural performances, stripping them of their spiritual essence.
And what happened to Bengal—a land that once led Bharat in education, industry, intellectual thought and spiritual awakening?
Today, we struggle to reclaim that lost glory.
Culture is the expression of Dharma. You cannot celebrate Maa Durga while declaring that Her worship has nothing to do with Dharma!
Maa Durga is certainly our daughter, our mother and a member of our family. But that intimate relationship is itself a profound expression of Bhakti, not the absence of religion.
The arts, music, food, festivities and magnificent pandals are beautiful expressions of Bengali culture. But none of them cancels the sacred significance of Chandi Path, Bodhan, Anjali, Sandhi Puja and Visarjan.
And inclusiveness does not require us to deny the Hindu identity of Durga Puja. Everyone is welcome to participate and celebrate, but inclusion should never mean erasure of the festival's spiritual roots.
It is particularly disappointing to hear such words from someone belonging to the family of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose own life reflected a deep engagement with India's spiritual and cultural heritage.
Bengal does not have to choose between culture and Dharma. Our greatness lies in embracing both.
Without Maa Durga, there is no Durga Puja. And without Dharma, what exactly are we celebrating?
Jai Maa Durga! 🚩🙏

Chandra Kumar Bose ji, your claim that Durga Puja is “cultural, not religious” collapses at the very first word: Puja.
Puja means worship. Through prana pratishtha, the Goddess is ritually invoked in the pratima. For the Hindu devotee, she is not just clay, paint and craftsmanship. She is Maa Durga, the Divine. You cannot erase the religious soul of a Hindu festival simply because its cultural splendour is magnificent.
Bengalis may welcome Uma as the daughter returning to her parental home, but she is also Mahishasuramardini, the slayer of Mahishasura, and Shakti, the divine power. A Hindu can love the Goddess as a daughter and worship her as the Divine. Intimacy does not negate divinity. That is the richness of Hindu bhakti, not proof that devotion is irrelevant.
Here is the question your argument evades: can a Muslim who does not accept Maa Durga’s divinity in Hindu theology regard her consecrated pratima as the divine presence of the Goddess? He may admire its artistry, join the festivities and work with Puja organisers. But appreciation is not worship; participation is not theological affirmation. A Muslim’s participation cannot redefine what Durga Puja means to a Hindu devotee.
Consider the Rajput traditions of Shakta worship. Bhawani was revered as a divine power, invoked for protection and victory. Certain traditions included bali, or ritual sacrifice. The Goddess was not a cultural mascot but a sacred presence. Bengal’s Durga and the Rajput traditions of Bhawani remind us of a fundamental truth: the Goddess is not merely celebrated; she is worshipped. Religion and culture are intertwined.
Your biryani argument is no better. Hindu dietary practices vary across regions and traditions. Eating mutton does not cancel worship. Nor does a “Best Puja” competition judging pandal design, lighting and craftsmanship prove that devotion is absent. An award can measure artistic excellence; it cannot measure the faith in a worshipper’s heart.
Pluralism means respecting differences, not pretending that religious differences do not exist.
And your suggestion that religion should be packed away to recover India’s inclusive culture is the ultimate contradiction. What exactly are we celebrating when the Goddess is invoked, mantras are chanted, anjali is offered and rituals are performed? Remove their religious meaning and you have not explained Durga Puja. You have reinterpreted it to fit your argument.
Chandra Kumar Bose ji, Durga Puja is unquestionably cultural. It is also unquestionably religious. Its art, music, food, literature and communal life have flourished around a sacred centre.
Durga Puja is cultural not because it is devoid of religion, but because religion has helped shape Bengal’s culture.
You need not worship Maa Durga to appreciate the festival. But you cannot turn your indifference to worship into a definition of Hinduism.
Maa Durga is not merely an exhibit to admire. For her devotees, she is the Goddess to worship. And no amount of cultural celebration can erase that truth.
The Durga Pujo in the home of Rani Rashmoni - businesswoman, social reformer, builder, fierce defender of Sanatan Dharma. This is the Protima (done in same style) where Ramakrishna Paramhas, no less, would conduct the rituals. Modern Hinduism emerged right from here. Needs a national effort to preserve it.
