I adore America, truly. I can't wait to set foot on US soil someday and I aspire to buy a property in the US someday, to give my kids a choice -should they choose to leave the circus that is SA behind.

For me it is extremely difficult to let go of my heritage. On my farm I have the axl of the ox wagon that my forebears used to reach a place they could settle into - an extremely harsh, but peaceful life of farming. There was no road to get there - they made it.

At the expense of your patience, my stubborn nature hinders me seeking refugee status. Rightly or wrongly. It is who I am. I'd rather get to the US on my own steam than accept an extended hand.

It doesn't mean I don't want to go, I do, I just need to do it on my own.

No, both white and black are native to South Africa.

Bantus only populated the eastern part of SA by the time white folk arrived 372 years ago.

White folk encountered the first black folk 1 118km east of Cape Town and no, Khoi San isn't black, they're brown.

Yes, white folk are natives. 372 years of blood, sweat, wars, building infra, farms, innovation, conquest and oppression, unique culture and language - I am more native than most bantus just by the contribution my ancestors made to this land.

Besides, all sapiens are from Africa - roughly 300 000 years ago - some of us just chose to return home with knowledge to share to folk that stayed behind.

The correct term for me is native African from European descent.
