@oliver_drk Obviously the Bond interview was before the AI-infused hardware component price explosion happened. Now everyone has to adapt and try to navigate around that.
@Shpeshal_Nick@2099gaming Perhaps the “free from PlayStation exclusivity” bit still means that it must not be released on Xbox in perpetuity (but it may come out on other platforms, i.e. Switch 2). Wouldn’t be the first time Sony pulls off something like this.
@GameOverThirty The problem is that a strategy has to be clearly communicated and understood by customers. That includes a heavy focus on console & significantly increased global(!) marketing activities. Also reduce the price of Series consoles ASAP in order to benefit from the GTA VI madness.
@rpwbrowne@stephentotilo That’s true, but that doesn’t matter for consumers. The point is to establish a continuous flow of new releases, which PlayStation hasn’t been able to deliver in the past years. (The same applies to Xbox and Nintendo, but this is about PlayStation.)
@DestinLegarie Same reason why platform holders pay for exclusive marketing (= branding multi-platform games as if they were exclusive to their platform): brand perception.
@XForebodeX@HazzadorGamin@godfree Companies not succeeding is almost always self-induced. There might be the odd one once in a while that's doing only the right things, but to no financial success (#Dreamcast). It's their job to create a "must-have" platform (potentially with "must-have" exclusive games).
@XForebodeX@HazzadorGamin@godfree That's why I previously wrote "Xbox dropped the ball a long time ago through a variety of mostly (but not exclusively) self-induced failures, leading them to fully bet on Game Pass." My last tweet was just an example. Of course the f-up started with the launch of the Xbox One.
@XForebodeX@HazzadorGamin@godfree People weren't buying b/c there were no games. The Series consoles were launched without any new 1st-party titles. No Halo. And that was followed by almost a YEAR without games. Yes, there was also Covid. When the big games finally came, their quality & sales weren't up to par.
@XForebodeX@HazzadorGamin@godfree I don’t think you understand where I’m coming from. Xbox dropped the ball a long time ago through a variety of mostly (but not exclusively) self-induced failures, leading them to fully bet on Game Pass. And I’m saying this from the perspective of a still engaged Xbox user.
@HazzadorGamin@godfree Xbox opened the multiplatform box all by themselves, it’s their own fault that people now call for PlayStation versions of every Xbox title.
@Aftermath_site I guess anyone can decide for themselves what they “need to know.” Assuming the sales estimate isn’t totally wrong, this is legit news -- same as if a game had sold exceptionally well in its first two weeks. If news aren’t relevant for B2C, they don’t get clicks and disappear.
