Khiva, Uzbekistan is a city and open air museum. The minerets are not to be missed! Best of all, Uzbekistan now has fast trains connecting Khiva to Bukhara within 3 1/2 hours!

Kyrgyzstan was such a gorgeous destination, but I can't remember the last time I felt like I did a trip so wrong. I needed more days and less time traveling in a car. At least I did Georgia and Uzbekistan right on the trip.

One year ago, we started a pretty epic run of aurora shows in September. It was my first naked eye sighting since the previous October, breaking a nearly one year painful streak of no sightings, and it has since been an awesome continuous run of amazing luck. Time for more!

@NorthernSkies5 I'll never forget seeing the most neon solid green sky growing. I still haven't seen another aurora that literally covered everything in neon color. That and the following night were the last visually impressive aurora shows.

Samarkand, Uzbekistan is filled with excellent sights, including gorgeous tiled Madrasahs and mausoleums. This is becoming more on the tourist radar, and if it's not on yours yet, Uzbekistan is waiting for you!
