Are there any teachers out there who were very happy in a school for a long time (several years) and were fearful of leaving, but did so anywayto further their career (ie assistant/deputy or HT) ?

How did that go for you?

@DeputyGrocott Thanks. She’s ok, a sore throat and that, but she’s also a teacher so it’s made this week tricky for her as there’s a lot on - as I’m sure we’re all aware of! 🥴

Took me until after my NQT year to realise I preferred teaching without a PowerPoint (unless it was genuinely needed for something) and that I love my trusty whiteboard more!

However, I did used to do lesson plans too, never considered PPT as a lesson plan, more a guide.

@joanneCDH @adamboxer1 Yes. The problem with this is it’s usually the same classes that win.

If you’re in a class with a persistent absentee or two (which could be for a good reason) then you’ve no chance of “winning”.

For me, it’s ks2 play rehearsal, wrapping up a lovely unit of writing and also finishing reports!

@HeyMissSmith @PGCE2009 Brilliant! I've taught in KS2 for most of my career so far. But I did do Y1 for a while & it was one of the hardest - but most important - things I've done. I learnt loads too & have so much respect for EYFS & Y1 teachers who do it well. Wish more KS2 teachers would experience it
