Game dev is hard. Had to rethink my entire economy yesterday because parts of the system didn't play well with others and I'm not even sure I got it right. Need to separate design and implementation, because trying to do both at the same time doesn't work
Today at work we were connecting network nodes together and my node was the only one which didn't open up to the others, and if that isn't the metaphor for my personal life then I nothing is
Not that I've done much React in the last month, but actually contributing to a decent codebase with decent code reviews made me better and this translates to the project I'm doing in my spare time
Holy, after 3 months of my job I can tell how much faster I am in React. Still make silly mistakes here and there but my overall velocity is incomparable
I love my job but learning new tech can be such a pain. I just spent a day fixing a bug in a language I'm new to (Go), because I forgot to set a variable and didn't realize it since parsing Go code is still effortful for me :|
Wrote a detailed design doc for a game today and started to lay down the foundations for the prototype. Feeling good about my progress, the tricky part will be to keep up
Foreseeing issues with low mood due to low socialization, a problem I've solved by gaming and being on Discord with friends, but this eats evenings like Pacman on steroids, so I have to find a better solution
Evenings are still tricky, especially now that I'm settled into my autumn and tempting myself with thoughts about playing Guild Wars 2 again. Papa wants to finish his legendaries
Finished (80%, good enough) setting up my webpage. Lacking some features like pagination but those can wait. Time to start working on the actual content!
