Good morning from Gaza, where the first act of rebuilding after genocide is restoring the education and future of a generation they tried to break.

These kindergarten students have just completed their school year. Over the past year, they still attended classes under Israeli bombardment, and their parents sent them to school unsure whether they would return home.. But none of this has stopped a people determined to protect its children’s future and preserve what Gaza has always been known for: one of the lowest illiteracy rates in the world.

A new disaster is unfolding in Gaza.

More than 9,300 cases of Varicella Zoster Virus have been reported in Gaza within just two weeks.

The situation is extremely dangerous, with most cases affecting children. The virus is spreading rapidly inside tents due to overcrowding, lack of clean water, and poor hygiene conditions.

Children are suffering from severe skin rashes and painful itching, causing their skin to become red and inflamed from intense scratching, while most of them have no access to treatment or proper medical care.

Very heartbreaking news…

A short while ago, the water station we partnered with for our water project was directly struck, resulting in the deaths of several people and injuries to others working there.

As a result, we have been forced to suspend our water distribution project until further notice.

This station was one of the most important remaining sources of clean water in Gaza City and served as a lifeline for thousands of families, especially after most other water stations had stopped operating.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and by the suspension of a project that was providing clean drinking water to people enduring these extremely difficult conditions.

Today, I took my children, Imad and Adam, along with my sister’s children—Elaine, Maher, and Ahmed—to the sea in Gaza. 🌊❤️

For a few hours, we forgot the heat inside the tent. We forgot the sounds of war and let the children laugh the way every child deserves to laugh.

I swam with them, looked at their smiling faces, and prayed that one day they would have a normal childhood—without fear, displacement, or war.

We may not be able to change our reality today, but we are trying to create beautiful memories for our children in the midst of all this pain.

These small moments are what give us the strength to keep going. 💙🍉
