Yesterday we held Polygon Protocol Governance Call #9.

Main discussion points centered around the Aalborg mainnet rollout, proposed changes to the EIP-1559 policy, EIP-4337 mainnet rollout, and POL token contracts going live on Goerli!

We kicked things off with @ssandeep giving an update on the Aalborg rollout on mainnet. 65 validator nodes had upgraded at the time of yesterday's call. The countdown to the fork block is linked below.

Some issues were observed in relation to the chainID returned from RPC calls (downstream Geth issue) and peering issues from boot nodes. These were resolved in the latest release shown below.

@davidesilverman then gave a run-through of PIP-24, which proposes a temporary change to the EIP-1559 burn address whilst changes to the Plasma Bridge are executed in relation to PIP-19. This was discussed in PPGC #8 as the current EIP-1559 implementation uses an L2 contract to direct the base fee to the L1 burn address via the Plasma Bridge. In terms of scheduling, late November looks likely but expect more updates on this on PPGC #10, October 19.

David then moved on to PIP-25, which acts as a bolt-on to PIP-17, addressing some of the feedback on that proposal. In short as the POL migrator contract contains the POL balance for the previously burned MATIC, although unclaimable, this would be sent to the existing L1 burn address.

Daniel Gretzke then gave an overview of the Goerli deployment of the POL contracts listed in PIP-17. Deployment ran smoothly with successful testing on those contracts. More to come on this in PPGC #10.

Finally, we moved on to PIP-15: EIP-4337 Bundled Transaction support, which has now been included in a release for mainnet. @pratikspatil024 gave a final rundown of the specification with some slight modifications. Q&A followed with validators querying some of the whitelist dynamics as well as some discussions on MEV. Link to the release below.

The next PPGC will take place on October 19 where it is expected we will discuss more Polygon 2.0 related developments as well as the next mainnet hardfork inclusions and timeline.
