Most of us have no idea how BIG a glacier actually is.

Look closely at the left side of this photo.

Those tiny black dots are people standing on the glacier.

This is the Meerathang glacier in Arunachal Pradesh, India in summer .

When I first saw it, I thought of a glacier as a huge piece of ice sitting somewhere on a mountain.

But seeing humans next to it completely changes the scale.

That “tiny” glacier is massive.

And after the recent disaster in Nepal, it makes you realise how much water and ice the Himalayas are holding above us.

How big did you think a glacier was before seeing this?
