Question - What should we do when the mind becomes upset?
@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji -
When the mind is upset, just leave a few seconds' gap.
Don't react immediately.
For a few moments, just be still.
Remember that you have had similar moods in the past also, and you overcame them. So tell yourself:
"When I have overcome the past challenges, I can overcome this challenge too."
That remembrance gives you strength from within.
You can also completely move away from the situation and distract your mind with something that is really unusual. Change the environment, change the colors.
But when such a situation actually arises, you will probably forget all these suggestions and ideas. Memory doesn't work at that moment.
You cannot prepare for that eventuality right now.
At that moment, you simply have to be.
Just wait... wait.

Q: Gurudev, is it important to meditate? Do all the people who meditate become successful?
@Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji - Absolutely important to meditate! When you meditate, you have a healthy body and mind, your intellect becomes sharp and memory becomes very strong.
India’s meditation has been taken up by so many universities abroad - Stanford, Oxford, Harvard. Do you know that now they call pulling the ears super brain yoga? When you meditate daily for some time, circulation in the head and the brain improves, and even the grey matter increases. A lot of research has been done recently which states that meditation is very important. Not only does stress get eliminated, but the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) also increases.
Question - Gurudev, how and why does a soul choose a specific body to be born?
@Gurudev Sri Sri - It is one of the five secrets that cannot be shared; these are called The Great Secrets, which cannot be fathomed; death is one, birth is another.
One thing I can tell you – your last thought can cause you your next birth. Just before dying, if you are thinking of chicken, you will most probably find yourself in a poultry farm, coming out of an egg. Similarly, if you are too fond of dogs, for sure, in the next lifetime, you will become one. This is because the deepest, strongest impressions in the mind takes you to the next life. This is the reason why a mouse, which is afraid of a cat, becomes a cat in its next life. A worm, which is afraid of a bird, will become a bird. Thus, your fears or cravings will bring you the next birth! I cannot say any more.
Q: Gurudev, Why is there suffering in the world when there is God?
@Gurudev Sri Sri - So that you can lift your eyes above this material world. Suffering has a purpose, which is to connect you to your self. Suffering indicates that you got too involved and carried away by all the relative and transient things around you. That is what suffering is all about. Once you understand that it is all transient, your eyes get lifted to something that is eternal. That is when real joy dawns in life.

Guru is close to you, and you are close to Guru. Don't ever doubt that "Gurudev doesn't love me" or "He is not close to me, He is close to somebody else." From your side, you should feel that you are very close to Guru. Period.
