Step into the #LingarajTemple and witness one of India’s finest specimen of the orissan architecture Located in #Bhubaneswar, #Odisha, this temple was built in 11th century CE and is dedicated to Lord Shiva, locally revered as Lingaraja or Krittivasa.
Designed in a distinctive pancha-ratha layout, the temple complex includes the Deul, Jagamohana, Natamandapa, and Bhogamandapa - all in linear alignment.
Within its sculpted niches, are placed the deities Ganesha, Kartikeya, and Parvati - making it a familial space of divinity.
Parvati temple within the compound is a Ganga monument. Since the temple was an important centre for both the Somavamsis, who were #Saivas and the #Gangas, who were #Vaishnavas, the deity worshipped here is known as Hari-Hara, a fusion of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva.
Small khakhara-style shrines dedicated to goddesses Bhubaneswari and Savitri add unique architectural flavor to the temple complex.
