In 2016, John Kelly came into camp with 13 mins to spare to start Lap 5 utterly destroyed. His crew turned him around and got him back out. He walked 100 yards and went to sleep on the side of the trail. Laz dubbed the spot ‘Upper Camp Kelly’ #bm100

He finished the next year.

The likely culprit was Datura.

Those alkaloids from Datura that cause delirium are also the active ingredient in your travel sickness medications.

It's the dose that makes the poison.

@ClaudiaRatti I ran a Bed and Breakfast & our dryer started smelling of hot rubber. The tensioning pully was just a sleeve steel-on-steel (no bearings) and had seized. Paid a engineering w'shop to make a pulley on their lathe & put twin sealed bearing in it - $50 & still going 15 years on!
