@ThePLDad @davidlynchlfc@empireofthekop Klopp might’ve had a poor season like this in terms of finishing position in the league, but I think the big difference is that you saw what they were trying to do on the pitch. What is our current plan IP and OOP? They look clueless out there. Why is is only getting worse too?
@Ifcanders@SeanDOlfc Do they think that? I haven’t seen this naive optimism too much. I think ppl are quite pessimistic about the future and rightfully so regarding the everyday standards and culture.
“We pressed them high on multiple occasions. Unfortunately 7-8 times it led to them being 1-on-1 with our GK”
He says this as there are clips of his Feyenoord press being played through just as easily.
Don’t think it’s unfortunate mate. It’s inability to coach a high press.
🎙️ Arne Slot: "People find it probably very hard to believe what I am going to say now, but the approach is not so different for tomorrow than it was in Paris..."
@encik_bo@dlharrell@ATLiverpool_ Klopp’s system in a way was this very picture. TAA and Robbo as wingbacks, Firmino as Wirtz, Fabinho as 6 covering so that wing backs could go (and the two 8s doing the same). Mane and Salah instead of Isak and Ekitike. It’s not dissimilar at all in possession.
@SwedishRumble Don’t forget the potentially season ending injury inducing tackles that defenders are allowed to attempt on an attacker should they somehow be able to get the shot off. They can fly into the attackers whichever way they like with no consequences. Mental.
@Harry199504@fpl_tactician@FPLfrasier Would you say the best sprinter of all time is the person who won the most medals rather than the one who ran the best time?
@salahfavala@Jack_Moore7 I agree in the sense that if you put Wharton next to the guys we already have, off the ball we don’t improve whatsoever.
He’d be nice to have so that we could progress better with the ball through the middle, but he doesn’t care enough about stopping the opponent progressing.
@Harry199504@fpl_tactician@FPLfrasier It’s almost as when evaluating greatness of a player, you need to be able to seperate their ability and overall contribution from their throphy cabinet.
Former is up to them, latter up to the team.
Otherwise bloody Maxwell is the greatest LB of all time?
@pa00ez@LFCData Bunch of morons.
They can’t seperate ‘dropping Salah for 3 games, was it right or wrong?’
vs
‘Salah slamming the club and Slot publicly, was it right or wrong?’
Josh is critical of Salah on the latter, whilst sort of “they all deserve to be dropped” on the former topic.
@LFC_ERYAN Perform poorly = get rotated.
This logic has to apply in a team sport, otherwise CR7 still starts for ManU at 41.
Even if the player disagrees with this logic and thinks he’s entitled to start based on past contributions, he’s gotta deal with it internally inside the club walls
@LFC_ERYAN Astounding amount of idiots here.
He’s not critisising Mo for being the sole reason why we lose, but that’s somehow how ppl interpret this.
Mo didn’t even play vs Leeds!
He’s critisising the decision to do an interview that no athlete of any team sport should ever conduct.
@kuzmitchov@SamMcGuire90@GooalMouth I wholly agree. That bit is where I scowled. What extreme control? Elite pressing?? We’ve exhibited neither of those things irrespective of the opponent’s style of play. It’s just shifting responsibility away from the manger in a lazy way.
Has Slot ever had elite pressing?
@Dr_EsOs@HendrickD82 I do recall quite a few footraces towards the byline that Frimpong has had trying to reach a pass played in behind.
You don’t attempt the pass in behind if you expect to lose possession with it more often than not.
@nicolasng_@craige_87@fpl_tactician Yes, you’re very efficient. Score most and concede least is exactly what you want to do to win (leagues).
Still that doesn’t mean that for a neutral watching an Arsenal game, it looks like a classic “good performance”.
But you don’t need to “please” the neutrals, do you?
@craige_87@fpl_tactician ‘a good performance’ generally means that a team is good to watch in possession. Crisp passing, flowing combinations and patterns of play, loads of big chances created. Being solid OOP on top of that. 3 points ≠ good performance. Neither is a 3-3, as you’re too open OOP.
@timkettenring If high level of effort and being close to failure matters the most, wouldn’t the most time efficient way to train (for mass) be getting close to failure in a set, resting maybe 10-15 seconds only, and then going again and again? Just do the hard reps. Is there research on that?
