I have been privileged to work across over 20 countries including the United States and UK as a Gen Z. In many rooms I have been in, I was the youngest person.

So I can tell you, the greatest skill you need in your corner is not your certificate, but the ability to work across cultures and systems.

Was randomly thinking about something similar to this yesterday, I think the more a woman masters agency for herself and goes after the life she desires before marriage the more content she is in marriage.

I think when women are idle in their single years, assuming that all the joy of life comes in marriage - there is a lot of expectation there and honestly even if a man is good person there is still possible that he may not centre your personal fulfilment.

Everyone keeps talking about “giving grace to your parents” but you hardly hear them say give grace to your children. It’s embedded in our culture and religion. That is why we have so many parents repeating the cycle because they know the society will always back them up.

So many people in the replies talking about how they used to fantasize about dying by the hands of their parents when they were children, just so their parents would feel just a little bit of guilt

Yet people still think beating children is just discipline and not abuse.

I really don’t like the way a lot of us talk about our hypothetical children before those children even exist. There’s so much emphasis on “showing them who’s boss”,“dealing with them” or making sure they’re afraid of you. It makes me wonder whether we’ve truly examined the parenting we experienced ourselves. Please, we need to unlearn a lot of the things that were done to us simply because we believe we “turned out fine.”

Children will absolutely test your patience. They’ll push boundaries, make mistakes and frustrate you. That’s part of being a child. But you’re the adult. You’re the one with the fully developed brain, the life experience and the responsibility to be more emotionally regulated.

I don't like gentle parenting.
The term, not the style, because of how we hear "gentle" & think lax/lazy.

There's nothing lazy about Authoritative Parenting, which is what this style with high expectations AND warmth is really called.

We're mistaking it for Permissive Parenting

A lot of people think they turned out okay but salivating over beating your children is a sign that you in fact, did not. Most of what we refer to as “generational” curse is just unhealed trauma repeating itself in a cycle. Please do the healing work before having kids.

My hot take is that as women, we need to let ourselves be, more and more. Wear your natural nails, your natural lashes, rock your fro. For Chrissakes, we’re human beings not machines. The whole “maintenance” and now “beauty maxxing” culture has always rubbed me off the wrong way. Women please breathe and live! There’s nothing wrong with your natural state!
