A thought experiment to see if it would be feasible to run/ cycle the equivalent of my air miles within my lifetime. Verdict: Plausible, if I change my behaviour RIGHT NOW (and don’t get injured of course!) https://t.co/f4kb3rO3ZI
@JarvistFrost It really is a can of worms, especially if more running means increased consumption of foods from far off lands ;) The thought experiment was more as a means of making myself think twice about choosing a quick , cheap flight over a train journey in the future.
These sound like they could come in handy on the London underground... could we maybe use some triboelectric nanogenerators to power some aircon on the Northern line?!

Great school projects @Grantham_IC. I would have loved a pair of piezoelectric insoles when I ran my first marathon... so much energy that could have been harvested whilst pounding the pavement of Liverpool!

I'd love to see some solar-powered trains @Grantham_IC! ...I wonder if we could also put some lightweight thin-film PV on the roofs? Not enough area maybe?
