Sepanjang tahun ini, Malaysia menakhodai ASEAN dengan penuh keyakinan, mengemudi rantau ini di tengah-tengah perubahan dunia. Di bawah panji perpaduan dan keamanan, kita menghidupkan semula dialog, membina jambatan baharu dan membuktikan semangat ASEAN terus subur dipandu kebijaksanaan, rasional dan tujuan bersama.

Sidang Kemuncak ASEAN Ke-47 menutup tirai kepengerusian Malaysia dengan sejarah yang terpahat di Kuala Lumpur, daripada Perjanjian Damai Kuala Lumpur antara Kemboja dan Thailand hinggalah pemeteraian ASEAN–China Free Trade Area 3.0.

Tatkala teraju ini diserahkan kepada Filipina, Malaysia menatap kembali perjalanan ini dengan rasa syukur. Tidak semua kebuntuan terurai, namun setiap langkah berani telah melengkungkan sejarah menuju harapan dan keadilan. Di situlah kekuatan sebenar ASEAN yang berpaut pada kesetiaan, keterangkuman dan keyakinan antara kita.

Kepada rakyat Malaysia, terima kasih atas kesabaran dan kemesraan yang dihulurkan kepada sahabat-sahabat serantau sepanjang tahun yang mencabar ini. Dunia telah menyaksikan, inilah wajah sebenar Malaysia!
