Almost everyone you meet is insecure, overwhelmed, and under-encouraged.
Resist telling people how disappointed you are in them. Everyone already knows they fall short.
Instead, show compassion. Be curious and kind. People are starved for this.
I killed a gigantic spider in our basement this morning, & now I’m uncertain if I’ll ever be able to watch a movie or game in its darkened space again.
I know my husband truly loves me when I find a 6-pack of sweet tea hidden in the fridge where our teenager won’t find it, but I will. #howtokeepyourwifehappy
Heat wave psa: close the curtains of the rooms where the sun shines in on hot days. It sounds so basic but helps more than I expected, decreasing room temps. #summer
Yesterday the cicada brood was thick in our driveway, so I asked my older son to go out the door first to pave the way for me, to be a shield as we walked to the car. He did, and sure enough, a cicada slammed into his head. He’s my hero!
My teenager paid $4.25 for one hot dog at school today. Isn’t that ridiculous? It seems so selfish for a school district to be making that much money off of their students’ need to eat.
Chicagoland media keep telling us the cicadas are here (they’re not) & they won’t hurt you (it’s true), but I still don’t like them. I practiced screaming when a large carpenter bee buzzed my head just now. To my neighbors: apologizing in advance for all the screams you will hear
@drewholcomb 100 agree. I have done this numerous times & people often say they didn’t remember my name either. I’ve never had a person act mad that I’d forgotten his/her name.
