Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself. UVM Applied Linear Algebra course Math 122 taught by @chrisdanforth
This morning, as rotating curator of the @WomenInStat account, I'm letting it all hang out with my unbridled enthusiasm and unrelenting passion for the singular value decomposition.

@MrHonner@daniela_witten 's thread on Singular Value Decomposition is the best math twitter thread of all time if you are looking for something fun and amazing to share with the students: https://t.co/0zogPtPFnz
So yesterday I asked you all what you wanted to hear about from me this week, and one answer stood out from all the others: the SINGULAR VALUE DECOMPOSITION (SVD).

And UVM’s preferred linear algebra textbook doesn’t mention SVD.
I developed and refined a Strang version at UVM starting in 2007, calling it Matrixology because Linear Algebra is terrible branding.
The hero of the story is Ax=b and the hero’s journey ends with SVD.
Here's a fun fact that pops out of the idea of exponentiating matrices, which is not immediately obvious (to me at least). If you define a vector field using a linear operator, then flow along that field will also be linear.
Emergency SVD calculations.
Some personal amusement delivered to @matrixologyvox, from the fall of 2016 involving @ChrisDanforth and @PratchettTheCat.
Forgot all about it.
