Really looking forward to going home to #Rwanda next week. Until then I will be posting images to highlight the country’s stunning avian diversity. I’ll start with one of my favourites, the Malachite Kingfisher. Photographed @golf_kigali#visitRwanda#TwitterNatureCommunity
One of the best moments in my career. The rediscovery of the Victorian Earless Dragon. In 2019 I undertook the taxonomic research to show this little lizard was a unique species, different to those in the ACT & NSW. So, so pleased it is not extinct! @museumsvictoria
The world’s 1st octopus farm would cram a MILLION of these smart and sensitive creatures into tiny tanks before painfully freezing them to death – but a massive public outcry can help stop it. Sign and share now! #BanOctopusFarming https://t.co/e1iWTnNXCO
Common Crane (Grus grus) is a passage bird in Hungary, usually wintering in Spain, North Africa and Asia Minor. So I was delighted today to find a single flock of 433 birds. A bit unusual for mid-winter. Many were practising their mating dance. #birdinghungary#BirdsSeenIn2023
The UK government's biodiversity expenditure data released - & it's grim. For all the rhetoric of financing nature recovery - here's how spending has actually changed over time - still ~40% lower than in 2008 in real terms
