@Lovandfear at some point you realize adulthood isn't about having it figured out.
it's about making peace with the fact that you never fully will.
and choosing to show up anyway.
eradicating boredom has been a disaster for society. turns out the queue, the bathroom, the bus stop, the waiting room played a big role in keeping everyone sane and society functional. i guess putting a dopamine dispenser in everyone's pocket was going to have its downsides.
@jackmoses777 your brain is pattern matching machine.
feed it the same patterns, get the same thoughts.
the most underrated productivity hack isn't a new app or a new routine.
it's a new seat in a new cafe in a city you've never been to.
@paraschopra the moat isn't the model. it's the distribution.
openai has 500M people who default there without thinking.
that's the same moat google had. not the best search. just the first one you stopped questioning.
defaults are worth a trillion dollars. models aren't.
every big company eventually becomes the thing it was built to disrupt.
google disrupted directories. became one.
uber disrupted cabs. became one.
linkedin disrupted resumes. became one.
the only question is how long it takes.
what's next on this list?
been following @waitin4agi_ since the metastartup days when it was just a facebook group back then.
watching AEOS compound the way it is today is genuinely satisfying.
rare to watch someone build in public for a decade and still be underrated.
i've turned off Instagram's "Instant" toggle more times than i've posted this year.
and it still keeps coming back.
@instagram@mosseri what's going on?
@gregisenberg "you can get tokens from anywhere" is exactly the problem.
commodities don't compound, ownership does. everyone has API access to the same models. almost nobody has a closet full of unified memory doing local inference while their competitors wait on rate limits.
we don't have a role model problem in India.
we have a "who else do I have" problem.
when school doesn't teach you how to think and family doesn't ask questions, you go looking for someone who seems to have it figured out. founders are just easier to find than wisdom.
I find it odd when people turn businessmen into role models, and this seems to have become more common in the last 5-odd years. It's the same with idolising movie stars and sports stars. None of it should happen, really. 😀
When people come to me for advice, my first reaction is: What makes you think I'm qualified?
Just because I've gotten lucky in business, does that make me qualified to advise you on your career, your life choices, or anything apart from how to get lucky? 😀
There are startup founders, especially people working in the social sector, whom I meet through @RainmatterOrg, and I think they are far smarter and more capable of giving advice than I am.
If you still pick a role model, pick someone for a trait worth admiring in real life, not because of what they project to the outside world.
@gokulr@kunalb11 from rewarding people for paying credit card bills on time to running the app half the planet opens before breakfast that's a hell of a trajectory!
His entire Delta 4 theory: Make an existing behavior dramatically better and people never go back.
CRED wasn't the product. It was proof.
17M users later, he gets to test that theory on 3 billion people.
WhatsApp is the biggest experiment of his career.
It’s been a minute.

Today
CRED is ready for its next phase. I am stepping back and @miten steps in as interim CEO, partnered with an incredibly talented team. He has been heading strategy and finance and suffering me since 2020. I’m stepping away from the operating role and will continue as a shareholder. My commitment doesn’t change. Just the role.
Extremely grateful to our members, partners, regulators, and investors who made this possible. And to our board, Shailendra, Micky, Saurabh for their extraordinary conviction.
Team CRED, I’ll still expect you to be a 10x version of yourselves.
As for me, I’ll be joining Meta to lead WhatsApp globally.
Meta comes in as a minority investor in CRED. No access to member data.
While it’s come very far, the delta between WhatsApp today and its full potential is massive. I look forward to working with Mark, Chris, and the leadership across Meta for the next step in WhatsApp’s journey. Will, thank you for scaling something the world relies on quietly, and for making this transition smooth.
Onwards.
