Pamela Cisneros, 49, pulled two knives from a bag and stabbed a 32-year-old woman, who later died, and a 68-year-old man, in what police called a "random and unprovoked" attack, all within about 20 seconds.

She then fled toward a police substation. Officers spent four minutes ordering her to drop the knives. She refused, reportedly saying "I would rather kill both of you." Tasers failed, and officers opened fire, killing her.

Commissioner Jessica Tisch said officers "did exactly what they're trained to do." Cisneros had a documented mental health history.

The world wants me to die.

My incurable disease diagnosis became global news. It was omnipresent on social media and 1,900 articles were written in a matter of days.

Many were saddened.

However, joy dominated the commentary.

People pointed to schadenfreude, the pleasure of another's failure. Yes, there’s that. There is a special place in people’s hearts that loves to see others fail, especially when that person’s presence threatens their own psychological stability in some way or helps them feel better about themselves.

But, if you look over the social media commentary about me, you’ll see that pattern:

“he deserved it.”

I deserved it because I challenged death. The crowd was running a deeply rooted psychological script that represents the oldest, most deeply embedded stories of human culture.

This was the first story ever written down, 4,000 years ago. Gilgamesh sought eternal life after losing someone he loved, only to have the plant of youth stolen by a serpent as he bathed. Leaving him to accept his mortality.

Asclepius became so skilled at rejuvenation that he raised the dead. As punishment, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt to enforce life and death authority.

This is the story of Jesus. Pontius Pilate offered a choice between a thief and the immortalist, and the crowd demanded the execution.

People need this story conclusion to keep themselves sane. The challenger must lose and the loss must appear deserved. It’s a shield of self preservation.

For if death is inevitable, their existence and that of their loved ones is justified and unavoidable. If death is not inevitable, nothing about their reality is safe.

I occupy the same philosophical and archetypal position as Gilgamesh, Asclepius and Jesus.

This statement will draw outrage and accusations of blasphemy, hubris and narcissism. Nevertheless, it’s the pattern that has repeated itself for thousands of years.

Death has been the omnipresent concern of the human race. It encapsulates our greatest fears, joy and curiosities. The discourse around it changes over time; however, the fundamentals remain unchanged.

What’s different about this moment, that is unlike any other moment, is that physical death may no longer be inevitable.

What if I didn’t deserve it?

And what if I am your ally, and not a threat?

In December 2024, the head of Google's quantum computing lab said the company's new chip was so fast it must have borrowed computing power from parallel universes. The chip, called Willow, finished a test in under five minutes that would take the world's fastest supercomputer 10 septillion years, a number with 25 zeros, far longer than the universe has existed.

So the multiverse is not fringe. It shows up in serious science journals and major labs. The tweet just wrapped a movie plot around it.

The "many worlds" idea goes back to a Princeton physics student, Hugh Everett, in 1957. Every time a particle could go two ways, the universe splits, and both versions happen. In a 2025 survey of more than 1,000 physicists marking a century of quantum mechanics, about 15 percent picked it as their favorite explanation of reality. The older Copenhagen view won with 36 percent. Still, 15 percent is a lot of physicists, not a few cranks.

Now for the theory the tweet is probably mangling. In 2014, three physicists at Griffith University in Australia published a paper in Physical Review X saying parallel worlds are real and physically push against each other. Worlds that are almost identical push apart, like people elbowing for space in a packed room. That shoving creates every strange quantum effect, from particles slipping through solid walls to acting like a wave and a particle at the same time. One world gives you ordinary, predictable physics. A huge number of worlds gives you the weird rules of quantum mechanics.

In all of these pictures, your other copies cannot touch your life. The moment a quantum system bumps into its surroundings, the branches split and stop talking to each other. For an object about as heavy as a paperclip, the split happens faster than light can cross the center of a single atom. Even in the Griffith theory, the worlds interact through a blind force, not through choices. No version of you is sitting in another universe steering your life.

Google's bold claim got pushback too. Astrophysicist Ethan Siegel said you can explain everything Willow did without a single parallel universe. Physicist Sabine Hossenfelder pointed out that the test it passed just spits out a list of random numbers with no real-world use.

The image on the tweet is from the movie that swept the 2023 Oscars, where a woman's parallel selves bleed into one messy life. The true physics is stranger and lonelier than the movie. Those copies, if they exist, can never reach you and never change a thing.
