NEW ODD LOTS:
How Baltimore's mayor is fighting the city's vacant housing crisis
@tracyalloway and I talk to @MayorBMScott a very different type of real estate problem than many cities have, and what it takes to bring in investment and population https://t.co/SMX8zfpera
While we've seen great transformation in Detroit, I'd like to point out that the number of vacant homes in Baltimore has decreased by 25% in the five years of Mayor Scott's tenure. Never bet against America's cities.
Delaware will prompt online liberal groans, particularly post-Biden. But if you're looking for small state that represents modern Dem party, choose the Small Wonder.

the most under-appreciated local government success over the past three years? it’s actually Baltimore imo
-murders down 60%
-major pro-housing reforms including ending parking mandates, legalizing single-stair buildings, and permitting denser housing
The GOP tax bill will wrap up millions of Americans – kids, seniors, folks with disabilities – with miles of red tape intended to make it impossible for them to keep their healthcare. I introduced an amendment to remove these obstacles. Nearly every Republican voted against it.
SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUND
President Trump has signed an Executive Order to create a U.S. Sovereign Wealth Fund. Treasury & Commerce have 90 days to deliver a plan covering funding, investments, structure, and governance—aimed at turning federal assets into long-term national wealth.
Our own @JuliusKrein has been a crucial voice in DC on the need for a sovereign wealth fund for critical industries, and was central to drafting legislation last year, known as IFCUS, which serves as a great framework for part of what the Sovereign Wealth Fund could acheive.

The SWF is aimed at investing $5.7T+ in federal assets to reduce taxes, boost economic growth, and strengthen U.S. strategic leadership. Trump calls it a way to fund “great national endeavors” and secure America’s economic future.
“‘Good enough for government work’ used to mean something done so precisely, and held to a standard so exacting, that the private sector found it excessive. Maybe that phrase, like so many others, is ripe for reclaiming.” https://t.co/mUrLyJs96y

@tracyalloway and I talked to Delaware Senator @ChrisCoons about how the government can better deal with avian flu outbreaks, including better compensation for affected farmers, and better preventative measures https://t.co/PnOu2SrUaf
Ban on forced transfer of source code is one of the key obligations in the CPTPP. It has long been regarded as one of the main obstacles for China’s accession, with many claiming that China would never accept the obligation.
But this changed today with a State Council document.

Sad and confused to see Tufts dissolving the only undergrad institute that allowed globally-minded students to connect their education to real world experience.
The IGL was part of why I chose Tufts, and was the best part of my experience there. What a loss for future students.
NEWS | Tufts announced on July 21 that it will disband the Institute for Global Leadership. The news came as a shock to IGL students and alumni, who have since mounted a campaign urging the university to reverse its decision.

Worth noting that while abortions remain legal in D.C. for now, it would only take a Republican majority in Congress for that to change. Republicans have long stopped D.C. from subsidizing abortions for low-income women, so an outright ban wouldn't be unexpected.
