I just took a rare full week off from work/business in 30A FL. It was amazing. So much family time/memories that it kind of blew my mind how much time we actually lose during our busy weeks.

The place we stayed was PHENOMENAL. So much so, I think we’re going back every single year.

The Kokomo house is the ultimate mix of privacy/amenities. Minus the 24/7 staff, you still feel like you’re getting high-end service. They set up beach chairs every morning, delivered a golf cart, and management is super responsive.

The place is also centrally located between Seaside and Rosemary/Alys Beach — all incredible. I don’t think I’ll ever visit another part of Florida. Truly idyllic.

“The Chain” is from Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 masterpiece Rumours. The only track on the album credited to all five members, it is famous for its dramatic build-up and John McVie’s iconic bassline. Despite never being released as a single, the song became one of the band's signature recordings and even reached the UK Singles Chart (#94) in 2021 following a resurgence in popularity on streaming platforms and social media.

The band pieced the track together from different demos recorded during the emotionally turbulent Rumours sessions, with the famous bass-driven finale bringing the composition together. That closing section later became famous as the long-running theme for BBC Formula One coverage from 1978 to 1996 and again from 2009 to 2015.

A hiker came around a blind corner on a trail at Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park Alaska and found herself face to face with Bear 909 - one of the most well known Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears in the park - along with her two cubs.

Instead of panicking she stepped off the trail about 12 to 15 feet, stopped when the terrain ran out, stayed calm, used one voice, and let the bears pass.

That is textbook bear encounter protocol and she executed it perfectly under pressure that would have most people completely frozen. The bears at Brooks are habituated to humans and have a high tolerance because of the salmon food source in the area but they are still wild animals that can turn defensive in a split second if they feel threatened. The number one rule - never run.

Running triggers the predatory instinct and at that point the encounter changes completely. Always carry bear spray and know how to use it before you ever set foot in bear country.

Odysseus was away from his home for 20 years, ten years fighting in the Trojan War and ten more years struggling at sea before being "washed ashore" in Ithaca, at his home. After everything he endured, he returned to Ithaca alone, aged, weary, burdened with suffering and sorrow, and unrecognizable to everyone.

Dressed in rags so no one would recognize him, he was accompanied by Eumaeus, the swineherd, who also did not recognize him. As they approached the palace, Odysseus saw Argos, his beloved dog and friend who had missed him during his time in Ilion (Troy), now in a very miserable state.

Homer describes Argos as covered in ticks, neglected, lying still as if waiting for something, his death, but not quite ready yet. A brief conversation takes place over Argos between Odysseus and Eumaeus, after which Odysseus enters the hall with the suitors.

Now, Argos is ready to die. He can finally take his last breath, as the moment he had waited for over 20 years had arrived, he saw his best friend one last time. His longing and hope for the return of his master had kept him alive for 20 whole years.

Only Argos recognized him. The hero Odysseus, deeply moved, could not hold back a tear, which he secretly wiped away so that Eumaeus wouldn’t see it and suspect something.

Homer writes:
