Her “I just sent you the $400 you let me borrow. Thank you.”
I sent her $500.
She doesn’t even know how much money she borrowed. Here I am thinking I don’t want to say anything because whatever, but all that keeps running into my mind is that she said I don’t care about her.
My mom asked me for money three times this month. $100, $300, $100. I sent it every single time. She says she’ll pay me back, but I just assume it’s a gift.
She proceeded to tell me tonight that I don’t care about her anymore.
So I guess the secret is out. Here I was thinking I needed to do anything I could to support my mom because she’s my mom meanwhile she believes I am no longer part of the family and I don’t care about her. Somehow it’s okay to constantly ask me for money though.
I started One Day on Netflix knowing that Emma dies. It was pretty much the only thing I remembered from the movie. It’s still disappointing. I don’t like sad endings. 😢
@KeenanPeachy “High IQ, high SAT”. IQ is never considered for admissions to colleges in the US. GPA, essays, recommendation letters, extra curriculars are. Being smart and having a high SAT is only part of admissions considerations.
Maybe your kid has those other things too, I don’t know.
@eduleadership I don’t necessarily think so. They’re very different jobs. I don’t necessarily think it’s good that people get tired of teaching and just want to get out of the classroom, so they decide to go into administration.
@sfmcguire79 Shouldn’t everyone have an A at Yale? To get in, you practically have to be valedictorian. Every single person there *should* be an elite student.
I think a better place to measure grade inflation is a regular state college.
@Tinf0ilFriend@JamesAFurey No one is writing geometry proofs, but people are using logic and making logical arguments on a pretty much daily part of their lives.
I HATED geometry in high school because of the proofs, but now that I teach it, I understand it a lot better as an adult. I can also see the why.
@itrade258@DrCamiloOrtiz It just depends on the circles you travel in. I remember my private school friends had way overly involved parents (mid 2000’s). I am a public school teacher and BEGGING for some parents to even get involved just a little bit.
@mncuriously@elderemo_mama I totally understand that some parents have to work, take care of other things, have transportation issues, etc, but it’s super disappointing to get less than 1% parent involvement.
@mncuriously@elderemo_mama My school has done open house/parent conference nights. I understand that there will be some schedule conflicts and some parents will think it’s unnecessary.
But I teach around 120 kids. I got 7 parents this year. Two last year (and one of those was a staff member at my school.)
@Savannasoorma24@elderemo_mama I teach middle school and we did not go 1:1 until Covid money came in- that was the 21-22 school year. 20-21 the laptops were with digital kids only.
So we were all paper/pencil when I started teaching in ‘19. Parent involvement (at my school) was nonexistent.

Restaurants were closed for a while. I can’t remember how long. Maybe they were open in May, at like 50%? I went to Universal and Disney the day they opened, so I remember those.
@BG76281902@MaxNordau@CoClarified We did go back to school in August 2020 with mask mandates and social distancing. Our desks were required to be in rows. We had to keep seating charts that we submitted. They used those to quarantine kids around known students with Covid.
@BG76281902@MaxNordau@CoClarified Universal opened in June 2020. I think Disney opened in July. Restaurants were closed for a whole.
During 2020, there were police at the border of Florida stopping people from certain states (I think NY was one of them) and checking them.
