Nobody should be surprised that Museveni’s brutal son would consider anybody who is not from his specific ethnic origin a second-class citizen! By calling his brother-in-law - who he is always at odds with - a 'Muhutu', he is telling you how exactly he views those who don't belong to his tribe. Those who have eyes and ears know that this has been the unstated foundational policy and belief of the Museveni family rule. They now have a reckless, entitled son who is bold enough to say it publicly!

Like I have repeatedly said, you just need to sit down with several victims of abductions and torture and listen to the kind of ethnic or religious profiling (in the case of muslims) they're subjected to in those torture chambers. In the case of NUP supporters, if they're from any other ethnic group, they'll be brutalised and humiliated while being mocked for belonging to those tribes. If they're Banyankole, they'll be beaten up and dehumanised while being interrogated on what they're doing supporting a Muganda. One of our lawyers, Kakuru Tumusiime, recently recounted how he was tortured, being asked how a munyakole lawyer could represent me - a Muganda. Imagine the backwardness! This is a dark truth that we must confront.

This tribal hatred is being spewed by someone his father gifted with heading our nation's military. You can imagine how he views soldiers who come from the diverse regions of our country. Of course this perception is reflected in promotions, deployments, opportunities to study abroad, etc.

I am very pleased that the Government of Rwanda through its Spokesperson has come out to distance themselves from this barbaric madness. They know too well from their own painful history, the catastrophic destination where state-sponsored ethnic bigotry leads a nation.

Unfortunately, you won't hear any condemnation coming from the officials in Uganda because they all know that this tribal supremacy is the true, unmasked identity of the bloody regime they serve.

I call on the people of Uganda to remain united because a people united will always defeat regimes built on sectarianism - however ferocious they may seem.

A 38-year-old boda boda rider, Ronald Kizito Jjuuko, was shot dead this Saturday morning, August 29, in Kanaaba, Ndejje, during enforcement of National Cleaning Day movement restrictions. Police say Constable Allan Okello has been arrested and an investigation is underway to establish whether the shooting was justified and whether proper procedures were followed. AGORA calls for a prompt, independent and transparent investigation. The right to maintain public order does not give police a licence to use lethal force arbitrarily. Any use of force must be lawful, necessary and proportionate.
The circumstances of Jjuuko’s death must be fully established, and anyone found responsible must be held accountable.

The subtext here is, Bahutu are subhumans and Bahima are the true humans. Some people warned our parents and grandparents about Museveni ascending to the highest office in the land, they didn’t listen and now we have to pay the price, if Muhoozi ever becomes President, whom shall we blame for genocide against people from the tribes he doesn’t like? One of those deaths of people you’ve never met but devastate you and shake you to the core. From when we learnt a 3 year old would be the next king after his father’s death, I always thought, “what a handsome baby!”. He grew into an even more handsome young man. His mother, stood so strong and fought so many battles and now that she would have started to reap the fruits, relaxed when the king is old enough to carry the kingdom’s responsibilities, he’s gone. What a cruel life. And the people wreaking havoc and causing so much suffering in the world will never die! I saw some NRM apologists saying we were just politicking and opposing everything for the sake of it. And today? No, this criminality must stop! The first time they did a cleaning campaign, people were brutalised and maimed. Today, they've taken in a notch higher - a citizen has been shot dead in cold blood in Ndejje! According to onlookers, the police and military committed this crime while forcing boda boda riders to stop and sweep. Just like that, an unarmed citizen lost his life to these trigger happy criminals!

Once again, thank you to the Ugandan people for the incredible support you continue to show me and so many other Ugandans pursuing their dreams and making a difference in their respective fields.

Many of you left the NUP Diaspora Convention 2026 with a copy of my book, The Odyssey of the Optimist. For those who may not know, the book tells my story- my trials, tribulations, setbacks, and the semblance of success I have experienced along the way. At its heart, it is the story of how I pursued and achieved some of my childhood dreams despite the adversities life placed in my path.

What touched me even more is that some of you who bought the book at last year’s convention came back this year and bought additional copies for your families and friends. Thank you! That means more to me than you may realize.

I hope you enjoy the book, and perhaps find a little bit of your own story, courage, and optimism within its pages.
