On the eve of Lunar New Year, in the flurry of cleaning and cooking, here’s a little bump up for my short story about a mother and daughter doing chores at the end of the world: https://t.co/Onz0uYNkEq @ndrmag
This is a really, really good essay that anyone struggling with self-doubt and a sense of futility should read, because @erikmbaker takes those emotions seriously but -- like he did in his book -- historicizes them.

Dad, it’s 7 April already. Can you come home now?
I spoke to Lite FM about you, begging the public to keep a look out. Please come home.
Everyone, please keep sharing. I need this to go viral so that the police will escalate this case further.
My niece Layan, 14, was displaced for over a year, living in tents during the genocide.
Whenever I asked, “Where is Lolo?”, the answer was always: “She’s off to work!”
Lolo… and work?!
Layan gathered children from nearby tents and started a classroom, becoming “Miss Layan”, the beloved teacher amidst the ruins.
Israel killed Layan
Israel’s army has released fabricated dossiers framing us, the last remaining journalists in North Gaza reporting on Israel’s extermination and ethnic-cleansing campaign, as “terrorists”.
This blatant and belligerent attempt to transform us, the last witnesses in the north, into killable targets is an assassination threat and obvious attempt to preemptively justify our murder.
We would like to remind everyone that after murdering our colleague Ismail Al Ghoul, Israel released a document that claimed he supposedly received a military ranking on July 1, 2007, when he would have been a 10 year old child.
This public threat was made without any evidence and is part of a systematic propaganda campaign to justify the unjustifiable as Israel continues to target civilians in Gaza, including doctors, aid workers, children and us journalists.
We call on our colleagues and media institutions around the world to show their solidarity with us.
Despite these dangerous and untrue threats made against us, we remain committed to our profession and will continue to report the facts on the ground as the genocide regretfully continues unabated.
Logged in to listen to the parliamentary debate on citizenship rights and found MPs who I know in my heart know better saying plainly untrue things 🙁 So sick of this. The greatest evil is having the correct facts and not acting on them
every child you see with mangled legs being hopelessly carried, every person you see lit on fire, all the dust covered faces, they were a whole universe. to themselves and everybody they knew. lives as complex, joyful and difficult as yours. it kills me. i’ll never get numb to it
More than 41,800 people have been killed in a year of Israel’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The health ministry in Gaza has confirmed the identities of more than 34,000 of them. Here are their names.
Is there a word for when you get a few hours to yourself and you plan to work on your creative projects, tidy the house, load some laundry, maybe even hit the gym, and instead you take a nap
