🚨🚨 EMERGENCY AUDIT: THE RNLI AND NGO DONOR NETWORK

I went through the publicly identifiable organisations funding the RNLI. What emerges is a much wider philanthropic network than the familiar image of collection tins and seaside volunteers.

Goldman Sachs Gives is named by the RNLI as a significant supporter.

The RNLI does not disclose the amount, but Goldman Sachs Gives has separately provided £2m to UNHCR, £1m to the Refugee Council’s Syria Grant Fund, $3.6m towards Welcome US Ukraine programme, and $75,000 to Screen Share, which supports refugees and asylum seekers in Britain.

Postcode Community Trust has provided around £170,000 to the RNLI. Its published grants also include £50,000 to United to Assist Refugees UK, £48,000 to Displaced People in Action, multiple grants to Kent Refugee Action Network, and funding for refugee and asylum organisations in Swansea, Slough and West Yorkshire.

The Julia Rausing Trust gave £250,000 to the Dart RNLI appeal. The same philanthropic network has also provided £225,000 to Refugee Education UK. The Trust says more than £500m has been distributed across over 2,000 grants.

Other significant RNLI support includes roughly £311,500 from ShareGift, more than £200,000 from Ørsted, around £186,000 from the Co-op, and £1.4m raised through Omaze.

The exception is the Lifeboat Fund, which exists specifically to support the RNLI. It contributed £467,577 in 2025 and more than £26m historically.

The wider RNLI supporter list also includes major grant-makers such as the Peter Sowerby Foundation, RS Macdonald Charitable Trust, Calleva Foundation, Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation, Irish Aid and others.

The interesting point is the crossover.

Some of the same institutions funding Britain’s lifeboat service are also financing refugee, asylum, migration and wider NGO work.

RNLI PAY AND SALARIES

The RNLI’s latest audited accounts reveal a substantial senior salary bill.

In 2025:

Total staff costs: £117.2 million
Wages and salaries: £92.5 million
Employer social security: £10.2 million
Pension costs: £14.5 million

The RNLI also disclosed 125 employees receiving more than £60,000 when severance payments are included.

That breaks down as:

£60k to £69,999: 68 staff
£70k to £79,999: 23
£80k to £89,999: 14
£90k to £99,999: 6
£100k to £109,999: 5
£110k to £119,999: 4
£130k to £139,999: 2
£140k to £149,999: 1
£150k to £159,999: 1
£170k to £179,999: 1

Excluding severance, 113 employees were still above £60,000.

Chief Executive Peter Sparkes had an annual salary of £175,000.

His 2025 employment package was disclosed as:

Salary: £170,900
Employer NI: £18,667
Pension contribution: £24,235
Other benefits: £3,500

Total: £217,302

The Executive Team collectively received £1.776 million in benefits, with a further £0.2 million in Executive Team severance payments.

Trustees, by contrast, receive no remuneration.

These are not estimates. They come directly from the RNLI’s audited 2025 accounts.

We are now mapping these salary bands against the senior leadership structure, historic job adverts and advertised pay ranges to establish what different RNLI leadership roles are actually costing.

As I travel home after covering events in Portsmouth across the media, one thing is clear.

The Government came dangerously close to inflaming tensions by falsely portraying last night as “thuggish” or violent.

🚨 PIDDINGTON: 1,256 OR 3,510? THIS GOVERNMENT MUST EXPLAIN.

Piddington is a beautiful rural village of around 370 residents, including just 46 children.

Yet the Government wants accommodation for up to 1,256 single adult men at MOD Bicester Site A for potentially 10 years — around 3.4 times the population of the entire village.

This is not an existing accommodation site. It is a former storage and distribution site with no residential units currently there.

Now, buried within 1,000+ pages of supporting documents only made public last Wednesday, a Government Property Agency UXO Risk Assessment dated 31 March 2026 refers TWICE to accommodation for 3,510 service users.

To be clear: I am NOT saying 3,510 is the current proposal. The current application says 1,256.

But where did 3,510 come from? Was it an error, an earlier capacity assumption, or was accommodation for 3,510 ever considered?

3,510 would be almost TEN TIMES Piddington’s population.

Even 1,256 would fundamentally change the character and scale of this tiny community — and in my view, it would be completely wrong.

3,510 would be devastating.

So we need one clear answer:

WHERE DID 3,510 COME FROM — AND WHAT DID IT RELATE TO?

Piddington deserves transparency. Piddington deserves to be heard. 🇬🇧

A charity can receive millions in unrestricted or institutional funding while simultaneously operating refugee programmes, immigration-policy teams, asylum legal services, lobbying operations and human-rights campaigns.
The grant description does not tell you the full story.

This is actually a far greater % of funding than the National Lottery.
