Might RAAS imbalance contribute to COVID-19? I would like to share our paper raising some interesting questions. https://t.co/NsT3941QHh
I would also like to thank my awesome co-authors @ryszsus@JonathanSaadi and @FagerlundMalin What's the paper about then? (Thread)
New research from @karolinskainst: Lung perfusion disturbances in non-hospitalized post-COVID with dyspnea.

#postcovid#covid19
I want to share a pre-print detailing findings in a prospective convenience sample of people suffering from dyspnea post-COVID.
The main findings are that we can detect lung perfusion disturbances by using MRI 4- 13 months after non-hospitalized SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Lung Perfusion Disturbances Detected with MRI in Non-Hospitalized Post-COVID-19 Individuals with Dyspnea 3 -13 Months after the Acute Disease https://t.co/TTaKTPTEIH #medRxiv
This study has some limitations, including a lack of other supporting imaging modalities. CT scans would likely detect morphological lung changes with higher sensitivity, but the current MRI protocol was optimized with advanced morphological imaging, including USE imaging. (7/x)
@dronico No! Thank You for the notification! In my humble opinion ACE2 has no effect. It is probable that the shift in ANGII/ANG(1-7) ratio is the effector mechanism after reading only the abstract. Will read the entire paper tonight!
@Nephro_Sparks That would be much appreciated! I've read a lot of Your work during the last year. Never heard of You and knew very little about the RAAS before that since I do mostly rays ... I apologize in advance for my ignorance!
@Nephro_Sparks But, I agree with You and You are entirely correct! It was a fair critique. What do You think of the paper's actual findings? Not many findings are new compared to ample small animal data. I think that the striking thing is the compounded effect in one animal.
@Nephro_Sparks@__philipn__ Thank You for Your feedback. After a year and seven different reviewers, we decided to not update anything outside the scope of the critique. I'm sorry that our decision looks sloppy. It was never our intention.
