This inherently causes products that are marketed towards middle-age/elderly or non-technologists to be hurt as they don't like these new users coming to the site to support the projects that help them.

@AllieLindo @ProductHunt The team from Product Hunt will always say they can't tell you how the algorithm works as then it will be gamed! A great statement to hide behind. According to this article, @rrhoover has even said that if you have many first time voters it hurts your project.
