Thanks to @ChristCrain @ClinNeuroEndo for generously providing the #CoMedStudy data!
Unreal. It’s like meeting someone you have virtually raised a kid with for the first time.
There is no better place to celebrate this journey than in paradise #GlomConHawaii

With tremendous joy, I share that our patient who received a gene-edited pig kidney transplant was discharged home today after removal of his dialysis access. We hope that this is a first step that will bring hope to many patients waiting for a kidney transplant #xenotransplant
In short, losartan is the codeine of ARBs:
- it doesn't do much on its own
- any effect is due to a metabolite
- metabolite formation is genetically determined
The result? Unpredictability and potential interactions with CYP inhibitors & inducers.
And who needs that?

Transition from an eGFR-based to a risk-based approach to CKD care from @goKDIGO#Nephpearls
📌 Practice Point 2.2.1: A 5-year kidney failure risk of 3%–5% can be used to determine need for nephrology referral in addition to criteria based on eGFR or urine ACR, and other clinical considerations
📌 Practice Point 2.2.2: A 2-year kidney failure risk of >10% can be used to determine the timing of multidisciplinary care in addition to eGFR-based criteria and other clinical considerations
⚠️Practice Point 2.2.4: Note that risk prediction equations developed for use in people with CKD G3-G5, may not be valid for use in those with CKD G1-G2

cc @weddellite - should we prescribe flozins instead of thiazides😏?
Identification of casts by urinary sediment microscopy is a valuable diagnostic tool for kidney disease. This Podcast discusses a study that found urinary vacuolar casts are strongly linked to advanced glomerulopathies with severe proteinuria https://t.co/v4vJawEvMO
You know how you get to the end of a book and you’re sad because you love all the characters and don’t want them to go away?
That’s how I feel about the current state of Twitter.
Yesterday, my friend, colleague and fellow @BookBurton podcaster Anna Gaddy (@AnnaGaddy) became an altruistic kidney donor! She is home already and her donated kidney is working and just saved someone's life. Go Anna! #WalkTheWalk
@weddellite @CJASN @NEJM@NephJC This is a very selective, bias view at the study, neglecting 95 % of NOSTONE data. What about no difference for the primary end point among groups despite a recurrence rate of 59 % in the placebo arm over 3 years ?
