Wny are we funding private school tuition? So wrong. The intention was to ensure children w/ disabilities had options & opportunities. Instead, this is a private fund for those taking advantage of a loophole now so large it is $1 Billion/year? Paying taxes twice got me.
🚨 ESA private school vouchers are all cost and no accountability. Hear directly from Senator @DrEvaDiazLD22:
“Protecting our students and the state’s financial future is as much a matter of revenue as it is an obligation to the taxpayers of Arizona. We know a financial recession is on the horizon in Arizona, the legislature must enter a special session to address the issue of private school vouchers immediately.” #azleg
@RJ4arizona Whoa. Consider building alliances instead of tearing them down with immature responses. You have passions as do others or you would not be where you are - in a position of power and leadership.
Congrats! Tucson has plans to integrate housing for the disabled & aging with limited income @ Tucson House. Wrap around support services & a clinic near too. Curious what that would look like. Privacy should be valued for residents. @priasun https://t.co/Famp1G3lRF
Arizona's voucher program should be a cautionary tale for the entire country:
-Constant mismanagement
-Huge opportunities for fraud and abuse
-Out-of-control, totally uncapped spending that threatens to bankrupt the state
What a disaster.
This story provides a good & concise summary of the ESA program.
The Achilles heel: A lack of accountability
"The ESA law provides for little accountability how the voucher money is spent or how the schools receiving the money perform."https://t.co/ccOmNKKtOP
@LaurieRoberts@azcentral Sick. And someone voted for this "lawmaker". No ethics. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. How does she sleep at night. Embarrassing.
NEW: An important warning from Attorney General Kris Mayes: accepting a voucher means forfeiting your rights. Private schools and vendors can discriminate based on sexual orientation and religion and don't need to follow federal law on students with disabilities.
@AZSenateGOP@anthonykernAZ@AZSenateDems You laugh while supporting "hate speech". Like you got one over the others. Yes, by law you are correct. Do you feel better now by encouraging hate speech? Give me a break, that's despicable.
https://t.co/0xRX599Li0 This is appalling! @azdemparty@krismayes Hope there are immediate changes. Young children have died, how very sad for these families.
“Let me be clear. No one is above the law,” the former vice president said.
The “handling of classified materials of the United States is a serious matter,” Pence added. https://t.co/l45d4alt6f
"Trump wasn't among top honorees at commencement. Wasn't on dean’s list senior year, meaning he wasn't among top 56 students in graduating class of 366. All that is known for certain is that he received at least a 2.0 average, enabling him to graduate," per @washingtonpost.
“Research supports the value that dual language programs bring in building the English proficiency of multilingual students.”
Joint Democratic Leadership sent this letter in support of the “English-only”repeal to legislative leaders to remove barriers that are hindering the success of multilingual learners. #azleg
"It appears Arizona’s Legislature needs a refresher course in basic math. Let’s hope they get it before they bankrupt our state, leaving us taxpayers to pay the bill."
