@ubiquitousnewt Okay, so as individuals our particular genomes are not preserved by our descendants due to recombination as you say. Which is why it is much more reasonable to think of yourself as part of an ancestral group, since this is preserved over time.
@ubiquitousnewt Another point that I don’t think you’ve considered is that the alleles of your children will match more than 50% of your alleles. They inherit 50% directly from you but the 50% they get from the other parent can have 60-75% similarity to your own alleles.
