@AqueductCRE@Mr_Neutral_Man Employment results for a school that does this would be terrible. Vast majority of corps hiring is still vetted by HR, who would instantly deny any chud who went there. The startups and labs will continue to hire from Stanford/MIT/CMU/Ivy. Nowhere to go.
@_t_a_s__@floydsbane@Cary_Bleasdale Painting an AK-47 pink wouldn’t make Becky want it. She hates guns and thinks they are a risk to her children.
Aversion to something at a fundamental level vs disinterest in its surface appearance are very different things.
@Pcrawjr@ninthhostage These are largely out in west Philly which is …less than desirable. Plenty of beautiful historic homes in Philly that aren’t in the ghetto.
@memeticsisyphus Tragic and bewildering that the left abandoned John Stuart Mill Utilitarianism of “greatest happiness for the greatest amount of people” for the current ideal of “willingly sacrifice society at large so that not a single person never has to face negative repercussions”.
taste is mostly not something you're born with.
it's something that is fucking drilled into your skull in the most painful ways possible, from childhood to every second after.
One day some mid-level Amazon PM will suggest changing this beautiful Kindle icon. He will make $300k/year but has no marketable skills because of AI. He must keep his job to keep his 2-bedroom apartment in New York and save up for a place in the Hamptons. So he suggests changing this icon that makes people feel things because it’s uninclusive to women who read books or adults who read books or dogs who eat books. The higher-ups at Amazon also agree because change is good. Change means you are improving things. Change is how you keep your job and 3rd house upstate. Every redesign is done by some guy like this or agency full of guys like this. They redesign beautiful icons and logos solely to support their second homes.
