PSC utterly condemns the Court of Appeal's decision that the govts proscription of Palestine Action was lawful. This outrageously overturns the High Court's previous ruling and marks an extreme attack on our civil liberties. 1/5
BREAKING: Judge Johnson has confirmed the Filton Four will be sentenced based on a 'terrorist connection'.
This heart breaking news comes despite the protestors never being charged or convicted of terror offences or violent intent.
Health workers are clear that Palantir should be nowhere near our NHS.
Palantir's technology has been used by Israel to accelerate its genocide in Gaza. (1/2)

On Saturday May 16th we need everyone who can make it to be in London for this crucial demonstration.
We will march to commemorate the Nakba – for 78 years, Palestinians have been subjected to a racist system of oppression including ethnic cleansing, settler-colonialism, apartheid and genocide. We march to reaffirm our commitment to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, including the refugees’ right to return home.
We march against the far right in Britain who glorify Israel’s racism and brutality. Our unity and solidarity is stronger than their hatred and division.
Stand with the Palestinian people whose demand for justice is as important now as ever before.

Sad news that Tower Hamlets resident, political activist and organiser Belle Harris has passed away, having been unwell in recent years. My sincerest condolences to all who knew her.
Belle was one of a kind. A force of nature in meetings and campaigns against cuts to public services. She stood up to injustices locally, nationally and internationally and served as a Labour councillor in the 90s, fighting for housing and investment. She fiercely fought racism and fascism over decades, standing in solidarity with the Bangladeshi community against attacks.
Belle remained unwavering in her socialist principles, standing shoulder to shoulder with us local women campaigning to save our public nurseries in 2017, while in her 80s. She personally encouraged me to be Secretary of my local Party and as MP for Poplar and Limehouse.
There are many stories and memories of Belle that many of us will hold dear. She is a part of our rich political history and her contribution will be a source of inspiration to many in the future. She will be missed in Tower Hamlets and much beyond.

‘Our response must be to mobilise for the biggest demonstration yet on 16 May, in defence of Palestine, against the far right and against the government and their undemocratic laws.’

I'd urge you to read this. And there is going to be a lot more follow up not only via the appeal. Possibly the most alarming element is the apparent plan to provoke public disorder... by the police.
Its been a busy couple of days dealing with the aftermath of the verdicts against Chris Nineham and me. First of all a huge thankyou to the mass of people who have been in touch to share love and solidarity and their sense of outrage at the judgement. Some reflections:
Most people know that policing of the 18 January 2025 protest was at best, utterly chaotic.
The Public Order Act 2023, through which these convictions were secured & will be appealed, is a deeply flawed law that needs repealing.
The current Policing & Crime Bill attacks our rights to assembly and protest and must be continuously opposed in Parliament.

The judge has ruled that Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham are guilty on all charges. This is a disgraceful decision. We will follow up soon with a full statement. Our right to protest is precious, and is undermined by this decision, but the fight is not over.
