A 17-year-old teen stabbed 8 children, killing three of them in #Southport.

Rumours spread rapidly on social media that the suspect came on a boat last year. The most viral source of rumours so far has been a report published on an obscure US-based website which claims to cover "breaking news".

The report falsely claims that that the 17-year old suspect is an "asylum seeker" named "Ali Al-Shakati", who "arrived in the UK by boat last year".

The name "Ali Al-Shakati" has since been widely shared online in posts viewed by millions.

Merseyside Police has confirmed that the suspect was born in Cardiff. He was born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and moved to Southport in 2013.

Today, far-thugs have descended on a local mosque in Southport, throwing bricks at the building and shouting "English till I die!"
