@CraigSarg73 Most people live relative to their income. Make more, spend more, are leveraged more.
More money doesn't always translate to better money management.
@ClareONeilMP Its already difficult to keep family wealth. Most generations begin at the start again. Some government war or destabilising event or just a thief government.
Somewhere along the line 'investing' became a bad word. Still I would much rather see everyday Australians investing back into our Country.
When the government do it, they manage to invest in foreign companies that rort Australia and pay 100x for everything.
Barrier to entry to investing is low compared to 20years ago. Hitting low income, beginner investors with 30% is stupid.
@paxtherock@NoelWhittaker Doesn't it really just show that wage earners are getting screwed.
What trusts and companies pay, should be what the average person pays.
How people can justify 47% tax rates, on anything, ill never know. It's obvious that government have no idea between efficiency, value & cost.
@yupitchris@AvidCommentator Can say what you want but the fact is it is still a tax hike on low income investors. Up to 45k income in Australia is 16% so at minimum it's double. Up to 18k was 0% now 1/3.
The 30% tax minimum on Capital Gains is disgraceful. Hits low income earners. They may have paid 0% to 16% previously on a Capital gain sale if their income was low.
First 18k was zero and 18k-45k was 16% previously. If you make 1k in CG sale and u made 15k wage. Now its $300 tax compared to zero before.
@JEChalmers 30% min Capital Gains is another hit to small investors.
Where as it was once based on cash brackets. Up to 18k was 0% and 18k-45k was 16% tax.
Now if you make zero income but make a capital gain sale and make 18k you will pay $6000 but before it would have been zero.
@JEChalmers Some of us don't want to work until we are 80. So we get a financial education and start sacrificing young to own different asset classes, so we don't need to rely on you fools.
Turns out its better to live week to week and spend all our money on liabilities.
