Why sell options at 100–150%?

1. De-risk the trade

When an options trade hits 100%, it means you’ve doubled your money. By selling half, you’re locking in your initial capital. Now you're playing with “house money.” It shifts the mindset from fear of loss to managing opportunity.

2. Options decay quickly

Options are wasting assets. Theta decay, volatility shifts, and time-to-expiry can kill profits fast, even if the stock moves your way. Selling at 100–150% helps you avoid overstaying the trade.

3. Capture the juice, skip the crash

Many explosive moves happen early. After that, stocks consolidate, chop, or reverse. Taking profits at +100–150% secures the "meat of the move" without gambling on a moonshot every time.

4. Embrace asymmetric risk

The best options trades are asymmetric: small risk, large reward. But waiting for 300–500% can often result in giving back some if not most or all of your gains. The 100–150% mark is a repeatable sweet spot... big enough to be meaningful, fast enough to compound.
