Spent last night reorganising my whole process.
Moving countries, two kids, stay at home dad, general life. It had got messy without me noticing.
No new systems, no new code. Just clearing out.
Feels like I can actually see what I’m doing again.
AI doesn't have inspiration.
I asked it to design a slot car track for my son.
Its first suggestion was an oval.
It will do the same with your trading system.
The most average answer, delivered with confidence.
@algojan It's an interesting topic, I'm somewhat removed from the "flex" stuff on social media nowadays, but I remember when I started trading being sucked in by at least one "mentor".
It was a road I had to go down, but now I'd like to divert as many people away from it as possible.
Latest system is live on demo.
Intraday breakout, one set of settings, five markets.
Anyone can make a backtest look good by tuning each market separately. The test is whether the same settings hold up everywhere.
Automating my trading transformed how I understood the markets.
Automating my backtesting has done it again.
I got into trading for money and time. After five years, it’s actually starting to happen.
@SystematicEdge1 I'm using Claude for something similar, I have a spreadsheet which gets updated and Claude can pull it up.
At some point we're gonna be data mining!
@PKycek While I agree with you, just because AI is there doesn’t mean it’ll be used well. Most people will reach for easy and quick rather than following a thorough process to define a real edge.
AI used effectively will speed up decay. But maybe not to the extent we think.
@dmartin_trading I know exactly what you mean, I'm in the same position.
The background work is what keeps me sane, designing, building, testing new systems.
I've no idea how 2026 will finish, but I know 2027 is going to be a strong year for me!
The automated testing is doing its job. Most systems fail.
Hard gates first, then parameter sensitivity. Most ideas die at one of those stages.
That’s the process working, not failing. The few that get through are the ones worth looking at myself.
@PropQuantX Nice. I've just finished a round of building/testing, 5 out of 42 systems passed the first stage! The best part was it all happened while I went about my day.
Stage 2 & 3 will clear out more I'm guessing
@ZenomTrader Other than the 50/50 split surely you've only been using payouts for buying new accounts for a long time?
I'm not near your level yet and I don't use anything but payouts for new accounts!
Finally automated my robustness testing.
One prompt and the whole thing runs in MT5 while I’m doing something else. IS, OOS, every market. I just read the report at the end.
Years spent building systems that trade without me. Took me long enough to do the same with the testing.
@kieran__duff 100% agree. Not many people have enough capital anyway and going full-time with purely prop firms which could disappear at any point isn't very sensible.
Any other reason why Algo trading the the way forward
