The above statement is still true - those cars are wonderful and these are not. Regular consumer want excellent quality products and I bet they choose the better AND cheaper as opposed to the stone age.

The next time (in the future) when someone suggests to break Tesla up due to its "monopoly" in Robotaxi, you will shout loud to say how dumb it is.. I worked for a big airline and know how much they invest in a hub development. They expect a positive outcome from that investment. Simple business. Not a reason to break them up.

Tesla is in a comfortable situation with no real competition. Sad for us because Tesla is not forced to listen to their customers.
I have been spending time in China since March and I firmly believe that Tesla is/will be in a big trouble here (unless release reliable and safe FSD) due to the superb quality of the local EVs. Talked to Tesla owners who say they bought their Tesla because at that time there was no better option - but their next car will not be a Tesla..
If customers want cheaper/smaller/bigger cars with larger/smaller battery options, you either provide it here or someone else will do.

@teslavangelist I spent the last month in China and what I see is very different from the usual Tesla boys' and teslaq narrative. Here is the reality: Chinese who bought Tesla 4 years ago they say today they would buy a Chinese car cheaper or luxury for the same price as a Tesla Y. Noone is talking about self driving. All that matters is quality and safety. Charging is convenient (at least in the cities) so even the range does not (really) count. Charging speed yes and the 30-90% in 10 minutes is available, not just a dream. Also the electricity is cheap.
If Tesla doesn't evolve quickly and significantly their (non self driving) car experience, Chinese will stop buying Tesla. Sitting in a Tesla is great. So does it in new Chinese cars.
If Musk knows that the fsd is at the corner (and suppressing it for the merger purposes) then it could work. Otherwise they will be left in the dust. As tsla investor, I hope the first version.

He is good or great in several areas (probably the best in our time) but that is not a guarantee that knows everything in others. Board has to accept. Elon Musk has to accept.
