The Government of National Unity should not allow itself to become reactive and defensive against accusations from certain African countries over its handling of undocumented migration. That posture only distracts from its core responsibility of serving South African citizens.

The time has come for the GNU to formulate and clearly communicate a coherent “South Africa First” policy on immigration and border management - one that directly and honestly addresses the real pressures on jobs, housing, healthcare and safety that our people are experiencing.
