Low uptake of #insulin pumps in #PWD#T1D!🇮🇪
34.7% in children/adolscents with #diabetes and only 6.8% in adults. Is it low? Yes, compared to countries where reimbursement is offered.
Do I think that 100% should be on pumps? No. But ⬆️>7%!

The very 1st outcome of my #PhD project: Availability of and access to #insulinpumps by adult with #type1diabetes#t1D in #ie. See abstract here https://t.co/YkPJ8UrpUT. Full text? PM me!

@Tims_Pants Interesting... And how long did you wait for breakfast after your woke up? I find my BGS a lot higher if I wait too long with Breakie (glucagon release as you are starving after long time without food - night - but woke up and in need of energy)?
In much of Ghana & Uganda, as well across most of Africa, any talk of 'pumps, closed loops or cgm' is an imaginative luxury; 'basal' & 'bolus' insulin in most cases is self-funded. Change can happen, must happen & comes from within. In @DYC_Ghana & @SoniaNabetaFDN we can see it
both organisations @SoniaNabetaFDN@DYC_Ghana further support wherever possible access to essential diabetes supplies, which so wrongfully in this world are not easily accessible and often come at high cost for patients & families to survive. https://t.co/hzEyTtxad7
Both organisations strive to host diabetes education meets & camps to ensure young #pwd receive key info to live with this condition; both develop patient-advocate leaders who relate, look out for & connect with locals with diabetes across home areas @SoniaNabetaFDN@DYC_Ghana
A team of international type 1 'diadvocates' in LOD are heading out to the rainforest for a trek challenge in #T1Dglobal19 & documenting about #t1d & hypoglycaemia impact (shared on #wdd2019), most importantly rasing funds for @SoniaNabetaFDN & @DYC_Ghana https://t.co/NKwqufmVXV
62yrs ago today, I was diagnosed T1D (age 2). Have had a wonderful life & continue to do so. T1 never stopped me doing anything! Hope this gives a loads of hope to younger T1 folk! V BIG thanks owed to amazing NHS too! Do join me in a 🍾 toast this evening! @JDRFUK @DiabetesUK
After a long battle, I've finally got my #lifeinsurance.
I am only DISGUSTED that MY LIFE seem to be much less valuable than any other person' without #T1D (moneywise: my life cover is worth 3x ⬇️than my partner's & is ⬆️ expensive). 😩😒🤔😠

I was in such a hurry - I was already late for a train. And #t1d wasn't helpful at all. My infusion set came off the skin just before I left. And I'll be back home at 1am today... Luckily, I found another set in my backpack👌Remember Always have a spare set with ya!

Team FRIO! 🙌 Great to catch up with our ambassador @Diathlete and T1Ds from around the world at the #T1DGlobal event this weekend 😁 Were you there? Let us know! #T1D#Diabetes#TeamDiAthlete
What a day. What a gang of so interesting and lovely people. Some conclusions from #T1Dglobal:
1) diabetes care is so diverse, #pwd are so similar
2) being a panelist is ⬆️challenging>presenting
3) @Diathlete is a real hero
4) football is coming home🇫🇴
Our debut League of DiAthletes “T1D Heroes Delegation” operated project development & professional skillsets training sessions earlier in the day at @DiabetesUK HQ. Thanks for hosting us https://t.co/Aqoe1mb9TT! #T1DGlobal18
At #T1DGlobal18 on Sat 7th you can also hear & join discussion from some leading health professionals in diabetes in the U.K including @parthaskar @FrankieAnnan & @exerciseT1D’s Dr Rob Andrews. https://t.co/G3sLMcspj0
If England make QF that day we’ll do what we can to show it!
On run around 3 airports all day! This lowers your blood glucose levels! Pakistani’s & Costa Ricans arrived, on my way to get the Ecuadorian.
Looking forward to the League of DiAthletes debut “T1D Heroes Delegation” this week, big thanks to @DiabetesUK hosting us for our sessions
