Job hunting: Networking vs Applying

Applying for a job is like knocking on the front door of a crowded building. You're in a long line, waiting for someone to answer, hoping your knock is loud enough to be heard over the hundreds of others.

While you still need to formally "knock" (apply), getting that inside track makes all the difference. Your resume isn't just another one in the pile; it's the one someone is now looking for.

My advice?

Spend 20% of your time applying and 80% of your time having conversations.

Learn about a company's culture from the inside.

Build genuine relationships long before you need them.

Started my week on a positive note yesterday, when my team of 8years, planned a send-forth hangout for me yesterday.

It was so surreal, emotional and fun all at the same time. To be honest, it’s not the first time they will surprise or celebrate me, yesterday was a little bit different.

Different because we grew from a Team of 4 to a team of 16 and everyone has grown to take up international roles.

Not only did they make me emotional by signing me up to a Man Utd with a Jersey gifts, with the perfect Squad number 😁, they also wrote me cute notes and created “Akintunde once said” videos.

Greatful for this amazing people and blessed to have worked with them and built amazing products with them.
