Definitely true in finance. What they also don’t mention is that many people who start off with high mental clockspeed in their early 20s significantly degrade by the time they reach positions of power and notoriety two or three decades later.
This is offset by accumulated knowledge and heuristics, increased access to external knowledge sources, and papered over because people are often in awe or come into convos with preconceived notions based on people’s prior accomplishments.
Tech offers a shorter path to extreme wealth and has attracted more intellectually gifted outliers in the last decade so the Scott Wu’s are getting actual attention.
For every Scott there is someone moderately less gifted who ground his brain into mush via sleep deprivation for a decade and then quietly started phoning it in with a pretty wife and house in Greenwhich once he realized his memory was no longer near-photographic and thinking creatively started requiring actual effort.
Full time work should guarantee a full life, not just survival. If you put in 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, you should be able to afford rent, food, bills, and still have enough left over to enjoy life. No matter where you work, a full time job should provide a livable wage.
Trump's DOJ is arguing that states should not be required to provide in-home or community-based care to Americans with disabilities, jeopardizing care for over 8.4 million Americans.
@realDarkElation@Bradlito1@mcuban I agree that the government has done a poor job in helping the masses. To pretend that the private sector is going to help the masses is delusional. The people running the government has to change or the masses are screwed. Will that happen? Doesn't look like it.
@littledonkey639@mcuban@LordKilmarnock If its a billion dollar heloc, I am against it. It is possible to tax billionaires more and not increase taxes on regular people. By the way, I have no power and you don't either.
@Bradlito1@mcuban Every American should have healthcare in this country. Everybody should have food to eat. Everybody should have shelter. Everybody should have access to an education. We do that and then you can have trillionaires. Our priorities are messed up.
@AndrewHoverson@mcuban I think we should change the tax code. The tax code favors the wealthiest which is one reason the wealthiest keep getting a larger piece of the pie. The tax receipts should be redistributed downward. Not upward.
@mcuban The public isn't demonizing. The reality is that more wealth and income as a percentage of the economy is going to the top over the last 40 years. It wasn't always like this. Housing, education, healthcare costs are less affordable.
How do you expect people to react to this?
@mcuban@elonmusk Out of 150 million Americans who invest in stocks, there are probably fewer than 5 million people who are rich. Cutting the costs of healthcare would make more Americans wealthier than stocks going up.
“I’ve never been someone others found interesting. I sit in an office where people pass me by without noticing. At home, I watch my wife and kids, but they don’t even look up when I sit down.”
This moment in the Mad Men finale stands as one of television’s finest hours.
🇺🇸Obama's Poor deal with Iran: Strait was free. No tolls. Sanctions on assets. Global investment out. No nuclear policy.
🇺🇸Trump's historic deal with Iran: Iran controls the Strait. Sanctions revoked. Global investment in. No nukes for 20 years.
Yes fools, Trump is the best president in history 🤣
