@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ There could’ve been a variety of philosophical or psychological questions that forced Jax to interact with the world the way he did, but you can’t apply any of those to him because he simply just does things because nothing is real
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ And if his one coping mechanism isn’t real, then what is? If it can’t help him, who can? If he can’t even save himself? Who will? So on and so forth
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ I’m using words, primarily the punishment part, that I’ve heard from others used to defend Jax’s actions and whatnot
I don’t believe that his punishment was suicide, i believe his punishment was losing everything around him to himself
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ He’s a narratively poor character who doesn’t know where he wants to stand — neither him or his author/writers know where Jax should stand. He’s not supposed to be likeable yet he is, he’s not supposed to be relatable but he is (to an extent).
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ He’s not heartless, sure, but he definitely has no reason to abstract — he was conscious and sentient when he drove Ribbit to kill herself and the same for Kaufmo — in the first episode he literally taunts Kaufmo after he abstracts and ditches Ragatha and Pomni to save his ass
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ Jax’s actions are constantly belittled by his fans and by the narrative to the point you don’t even remember them by the time you get to the finale — he’s a flawed character without getting a chance to actually lean into his flaws and embrace them.
@GoombaFallacy0@AveriZero0@Purple_Sky____ They make sure you cannot sympathize with them unless the situation calls for it — and the only time this has ever happened in any of the examples’ cases… was Metal Sonic realizing he has no autonomy nor free will.
