A short while ago, in a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, I urged him to accelerate efforts for the release and recovery of Mushtaq Ahmad Khan. The Prime Minister said that Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been assigned this responsibility. We made it clear that this is not only a matter concerning Jamaat-e-Islami, but it carries importance for the whole of Pakistan. The Israeli attack on the Global Samud Flotilla and the arrests are strongly condemnable.

I also expressed, on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami as well as the entire nation, serious reservations regarding Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan, and stressed that Pakistan must remain firm on the demand for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Pakistan should not support any plan that ultimately strengthens Israel.

I told the Prime Minister that the alarming situation in Azad Kashmir requires careful handling with the people there. The government must take responsibility and resolve this issue through dialogue, and any narrative influenced only by a few individuals should not be taken as the stance of all Kashmiris. We reminded the Prime Minister that Kashmiris love Pakistan, and any irresponsible attitude by the administration could harm both Pakistan and the Kashmir cause, and providing an opportunity for the enemy to exploit.
