I am gravely concerned by the Government’s ongoing position on the hunger strike.

Since I raised the 8 prisoners’ plight in Parliament yesterday, the Government said they ‘do not treat prisoners any differently from any other’.

If that is the case, why are they being held on remand, beyond the Custody Time Limits?

Last weekend, I spoke to 28-year old Kamran Ahmed who has been hospitalised twice. His situation is dire. They need our help.

The Government will be held responsible if these people die in prison without ever having been convicted or put on trial.

The prisoners have rights enshrined in law. The Government must act, now!

Political parties are not the same as employers. There is a specific exemption in the Equality Act to discriminate based on beliefs within a belief organisation, which a political party is. If your beliefs are contrary to the party’s aims then you may be expelled because of them.
