To my EA colleagues heading back on Tues
Be kind to yourself!
You are 1 person!
Being expected to support multiple Ss with complex needs is impossible!
The system is failing!
Don’t try to be a hero!
Take care of yourself!
#OntEd#EAshortage
Did you know:
-EAs make less than half of what an average teacher makes?
-EAs are primarily responsible for teaching students self- regulation, personal care and hygiene?
-without EAs, students with different learning needs would be lost in the shuffle @OPSEU2100@OPSEU
So when we go to the bargaining table remember this…
The Ontario government is giving 43 MPPs a $16,000 raise, bringing their total annual salary to $132,500
Imagine the outcry if Ed Workers got a $16,000 raise!

Our members are overwhelmed
overworked &
being injured on the job
leaving huge gaps that need to be filled

Shout out to all the EA’s out there who go way above and beyond their roles to support students. Our schools could not run without you! Now… can we talk about how they are significantly underpaid? Let’s be better and do better to support EA’s! ❤️
It's okay to have questions about COVID-19 vaccines for children! Elmo's dad Louie talked to their pediatrician, and learned that Elmo getting vaccinated is the best way to keep him and his whole neighborhood safe and healthy! #CaringForEachOther
We support the most vulnerable students yet we are often the forgotten ones
So Im asking the media to do the work & to have fair representation as we head to the bargaining table
We are Educators not Teachers ✊3/3 @JPHornick@LNancekivell@OPSEU2100@waltonmom@osbcucscso
Are rep’d by many unions
Some are in the big 4 some are not
This round of bargaining is huge for all of us because #Bill124 was extremely detrimental because on avg we make $38k yearly
We’ve often been described as heros because …2/3
So yesterday I tweeted about the media getting it wrong about Ed Unions @CityCynthia reached out and I appreciate that
What people need to know is that there r more than teachers unions & all of our contracts are ending in Aug
EAs and DECEs in #OntEd …🧵 1/3
Such a wonderful day celebrating the official school opening of @PteBuckamSingh yesterday! Laughter, music, and dance filled the room and hearts of everyone present. We can't wait to see how your school will flourish!❤️
@JennMacBrown I hope you and your family feel better soon❤️ we are in the same situation. Thankful to be fully vaccinated too but worried for my 2 little ones who can’t be yet 😢
