@4721_Archer@shagbark_hick So you reject a council of the church. Protestants reject Trent too.
Welcome to your own particular brand of Prostestantatism!
@jarvis_best The problem with an independent civil service is that its interests aren’t always aligned with the nation’s and its massive power is often unchecked.
@ItsTinnakorn And really the only way to break into it, as shown by Kla Tham and BJT is to offer something they'd love to have....hopefully someone's thinking about this and co-opting the local elites like you said. Only way is to make the tent bigger. Either that or turn into the Dems.
@ItsTinnakorn Why they can't break Pattaya, though, is a bigger question for me and a sign of how they'll perform in the provinces later. A much bigger deal than the BKK governor race.
@ItsTinnakorn So much for new politics if they are forced to. You can just do things. Wiroj also got 3rd place last time, and his posts were almost promoting Chatchart at times. But it's fine. Chatchart's a relatively good guy overall.
@ItsTinnakorn The low turnout confirms my sense that people are disillusioned/feel powerless w/ politics and the blue faction.
PPLE should bide their time, don't listen to Twitter, and have an actual takeover plan for the administrative state. The time will soon come when it boils over.
@ItsTinnakorn They made many strategic blunders in this election for sure, but nothing catastrophic in the grand scale of things, imo. I would stick with these guys for now as part of a "bide your time strategy." Don't play your cards now, let the bigger enemy self-destruct and help them along
@SaksithCNA@bkkdude and to answer the "undemocratic" criticism, you would be eligible to vote in local elections for Nonthaburi/PathumThani PAOs and thetsabans instead. While those who never moved their registration get to vote back home.
@Roach_BKK@theresa_197O You should read Thai comments. It’s utterly ruthless (and funny). Way more ruthless than any foreign criticism. But when a foreigner reflexively criticizes, it feels different somehow.
I know you mean well, though
@stephenfishbach It’s really the stops that get you no matter hope fast you try to go, and the data they have on average is just too big to be significantly wrong…
@ItsTinnakorn Why is that? The fact that he executed a labour coup? I know nothing about him but the excitement seems … weird and unnatural for a previously obscure guy. As an old and disillusioned Obama supporter, I feel astroturf vibes about this guy’s sudden rise
@Left66799889@AnAccount200@KyuboxIncubox@WTMMP Let me point to Theravada scripture and tradition that say 1) suicide is a grave sin and 2) being reborn human is even better than being born a deva (heavenly being) because human suffering leads to enlightenment whereas the heavenly delights means devas don’t seek it
@Left66799889@AnAccount200@KyuboxIncubox@WTMMP So then end it right away?
Or neuter all living things on earth that can feel pain instead of prolonging their offspring’s suffering. I note that you probably don’t endorse that
So it is not the case that less suffering is necessarily better, everything considered.
