If everyone can build the same thing with AI, where does the business value come from?

After much debate, we found five sources of business value that survive:

Memory, Objects, Audience, Tribe, and Signature (yes MOATS 😊)

When building is free, the other parts of what makes a business become more important:

Memory: what you know that others don’t

Objects: the physical things AI can’t make (yet)

Audience: duh!

Tribe: aka network effects

Signature: who signs for the work (Eg insurance, banks)

I feel this.

Every opportunity crowded with AI slop apps.

Every channel saturated with AI slop marketing.

You can't make slop to compete with slop.

I think the way to win is to be as human as possible.

Think about building long term. Be opinionated about code. Take a bit of extra time over the UI. Build something you're really proud of. Market your app without AI; write your newsletters yourself, make video diaries, interview real life customers, etc.

I could be wrong, but at least I won't be part of the slop-race.

@marco_lobo 100% on harness vs model. Models seem to be commoditised fast. Even Anthropic’s value now is mostly harnesses on their own model (the good old vertical integration) but the value is in the harness (+ compute on the other side).

And then there is bandwidth: You speak faster than you type (talking is ~3x faster than typing) and you can listen as fast as you read if you listen on faster playback speeds. That could be a 2x productivity unlock... like having another planet earth producing!
